Really lovely collection of lush ambient and new age compositions from d’Eon. Fans of Tangerine Dream, Suzanne Ciani and early Aphex Twin will likely enjoy. FM synthesis 4 lyfe.
I hope there are more volumes to follow.

Continuing our recent string of Astrocast contributors from the Dirty South (Moist Ghost, Featureless Ghost, P Villa), Cc aka C Powers brings in the Michael Jordan mix with fatty deep-fried riddims slapped in between two halves of a warm ass biscuit. Recorded to tape and left to marinate in the sun, the mix features tracks exclusively from artists based in the Southeastern United States, and as a result is one of the grimiest ones yet.
Check out his housey-synth trax as both Cc and C Powers.

Extra shout to my dawgs DJ Fanta & DJ Pyramid for rolling through. Smelly sleepover to follow.
Leading a wildly eclectic release, stilted blippy opener ‘Bad Haircut’ pops off with a hard and slow hip hop shuffle under buzzing faded synth chords. ‘Supermax’ retools a classic by the band of the same name to create a Phil Collins-like roller with a cyborg twinge. Title track ‘Broken Arrow’ launches straight away into a rhythmically deranged abstract footwork beat before building somberly to a triumphant finish. ‘Y’ closes the EP by marrying a mantric 80′s vocal chorus and footwork-like hyper-percussion with extra cowbell.
Having produced and released tracks for years on Astro Nautico and elsewhere under a variety of secret monikers in addition to curating the inimitable FatDudes Tumblr and creating video art and cover art for the label, Paul Jones is no newcomer to the game. This is like an unveiling of the heart of Astro Nautico itself.
Being that it is such a family affair, the other two founders of the label have joined in on remix detail. Obey City’s take on ‘Bad Haircut’ ups the tempo and finds a new pocket for the original’s off-kilter arpeggios, while Kuhn’s version of ‘Broken Arrow’ turns out a buoyant agressive juke-jungle hybrid fit to back your next GTA and/or Mariokart 64 session.
So it’s too late and I’m just buzzing around that website soundcloud with all the music and I happen upon this mix by LA’s Total Freedom (FADE TO MIND WHATUP) and he’s got this really smooth & lovely mix he made for his sister’s birthday:
And I can’t help but notice I recognize all these other artists except for Dane Chadwick…and the fact that his tracks were the biggest heaters in the mix!!!
So I go to his SOUNDCLOUD page and it’s more of the same!!!
I can’t even classify it, I mean it’s sort of on the Dam-Funk / Nite Jewel tip with this 80s boogie/r&b/fusion/AOR smoothness, but it’s also got this progressive feel that makes it very fresh.
JUST LISTEN OK??? I NEED TO SLEEP
shout out to soundcloud once again for helping me find dope music….;)
New heat from the homie RDBN in the form of this 12 track beat tape entitled Zoot Loops (makes you want to pack a bowl AND eat one just looking at it right?).
Like our latest contributer of ASTROCAST22, aaronmaxwell, RDBN is also a disciple of the Boss SP sampler and uses it to create spacey, textural beats, full of warm fuzz and crunchy rhythms.
If you have been following the blog for a while, you’ll know we posted his first beat tape over a year ago and since then the man has been garnering attention on both coasts. He’s informed me that he’s working on a proper debut record full of more structured songs which we we be eagerly awaiting here.
In the meantime, stream/download Zoot Loops here.
Also check his ASTROCAST he made for us a couple months back.
aaronmaxwell is a young gun from L.A. who has churned out SP beats under a slew of other aliases including magicspacecat, boxofkittens, george w. bush, duchess, and 1992a.
His Astrocast, like the mix we got from his Internet bud and occasional collaborator _lip last year, provides a wonderful glimpse at the international SP beat scene. Delivered live on an SP-404, it features new beats from producers around the world as well as fresh ones from the man himself.
aaronmaxwell is also a talented visual artist. He founded microwavedmeows, a YouTube channel of hilarious grittily cut-up collage videos matched to dirty SP clankers. And his Tumblr aaroniskool has your new favorite 8-bit gifs and fucked up digitalia.
Look for a collab tape soon between aaronmaxwell and fellow SP beatmaker exaveyur set to be released along with a new website for microwavedmeows.

Happy Valentines Day y’all <3
The Astro Nautico crew just returned from our trip out to LA to perform with The Melt, where we were definitely feeling the love. Hope to bring you some sort of visual re-cap of our experience in the upcoming weeks.
And being that today is the day for lovers, or at the very least things that you love, we’re bringing you new music we love. Plus, if you’re looking to seal the deal tonight (or any night for that matter) you need the proper music to set the mood.
Night Music is brimming with soul, beginning with its down-tempo, synth laden intro “Crucial” and continuing until the gorgeous instrumental outro tune which, like its title, will be sure to transform you into a new romantic the moment you press play. Starchild displays his growth and versatility as an artist, as he transitions from smooth, buttery flows to early 90s styled-R&B crooning on choruses with ease. As is always the case with Guns of Kingston artists, the future looks bright for yung Starchild.

Continuing our recent streak of ATL-based artists doing Astrocasts, Moist Ghost brings in #21 with sub-driven grime that will paint the walls of wherever it’s being played black. Known to circles of post-dubstep and dirty southern trap music as the club rattling Taste Taster, this project is wetter and more rhythmically bold, taking notes from the frenetic polyrhythms of footwork trax, future bass and water. Shoot this mix into your bloodstream and keep an eye out for a Moist Ghost release on Astro Nautico in 2012.
